A highly prized late dessert apple discovered at Ribston Hall near Knaresborough in Yorkshire.  It was thought to have been raised from seed brought there from Rouen in about 1688.  It received an RHS Award of Merit in 1962.  The fruits have a rich aromatic flavour with a hint of pear drops.
